Fafa Picault has long been one of my favorite players to watch in MLS. He has insane speed, but backs it up with max effort and a desire to win. He’s the kind of guy that you love to have on your team, and I did love having on my team (Dallas).

When I saw these jerseys get realeased I fell in love with them. Inspired by Johnny Cash aka The Man in Black, these kits are some of the best ever designed in my opinion. All black with silver numbers, sponsors, and name. The kit is not just tribute to Johnny himself, but also his hit song “The Man in Black.” This song was written to shed light on the poor, incarcarated, and other forgotten communities. These kits a nod to a true legend.

And once I saw Fanatics had these jerseys available at the conclusion of the 2023 MLS season, I HAD TO HAVE ONE! And to my surprise, Fafa Picault was still available when I hopped on to buy a game used version of this kit.

The front of the jersey features a picture of the legend himself. This is an image taking from his infamous “Live at Folsom Prison” album.

The crest of the kit features a beautiful silver metallic finish. Like all outfield players, this is heat pressed.

As you can see here, this shirt just oozes class and is a beautiful design. The main sponsor, as well as the Hynudai, and Apple TV sponsors are silver, as is the beautiful MLS logo.

The backside of the jersey also shows the beautiful silver and black pairing with a large number 7 and the unique application of his first name Fafa rather than the last name of Picault. Fafa signed this jersey in silver sharpie, which perfectly coordinates with the amazingness that is this kit. And above all that, is the super cool Johnny Cash signature on the collar to round off this amazing tribute jersey.

Game use wise, this jersey does have a little bit of use. Both on the back side of the jersey on the left side panel as well as the front of the jersey near the Adidas logo you can see some slight pulling. There are two spots that are above the Adidas logo. Not amazing game use, but still any sign at all of the tough life jerseys go through on the field is a great sign.

Overall I was thrilled to add this to my collection. Fafa is both a player that I love and a jersey that I love even more. Nashville knocked it out of the park with this design. Fafa ended the 2023 season with Nashville with 5 goals and 1 assist in just over 1600 minutes. However it is the other aspects his game that really help him to shine and elevate a team. He finished in the 99th percentile for his position in interceptions and 98 percentile in blocks. He also ranked 92% in progressive carries and 96% in succesful take ons.

With these numbers it’s clear to see Fafa Picault is a heck of a player. One who brings energy, speed, and skill on both offense and defense. I am thrilled to have this jersey be a part of the MLS Collector collection.
